Happy Presidents' Day

Happy Presidents' Day everyone!

I had a good weekend, did you? I love 3-day weekends. Well, I'm pretty much on a Permanent Vacation. L, D & I all headed up to Woodbury Commons for some outlet shopping. Man, let me tell you, I was MF POPULAR up there. People from all walks of life were into me like the paparazzi over some Hollywood celeb! I love the attention!

On Friday night, we went to this great bar, Moonshine. We hung out, spent some coins on the Jukebox (Classics like Kiss, Cheap Trick, The Boss, etc.) Nick, the owner invited us to the 3rd Sunday Annual Bulldog get-together, which they sponsor at the bar. So we did that after the outlets.

That's pretty much the review of the weekend. Hopefully I'll have some more tomorrow.

And I'm one of the fortunate few, To do what I do

Sometimes, I get to go with L or D on trips. Sometimes I know where we’re headed, but usually I don’t, nor do I really give a rat’s ass. I’ve got the whole backseat to myself. Today, I went along with D on a trip for his work (I think, I don’t know). I don’t know what he does, but I know my mom, L is a superhero. I jump off the couch and run to the door, at a million miles an hour to meet her when she gets home. My reaction to D is lukewarm.

I'm A Loser, Baby

You know I'm all for fun & games & competition, but really folks, can you believe the results of the 2006 Westminster Dog Show? The Colored Bull Terrier is a cross breed of the Bulldog and the White English Terrier. What a dud. But for certain, not to throw arrogance in the mix, the Bulldogs in the competition had nothing on me. Well, maybe their nuts. The last time a Bulldog won Best in Show at Westminster was in 1955!

Jeez, the time is now for the changing of the guard (dog). MoFo 50 years of being dissed. WTF?

Complain, So Much Easier

I don’t know what all the complaining is about, since being born in Houston, TX, I have been used to the hot 80ºF temps this time of year. We’ve got some awesome snow here in Brooklyn, and I’m just loving rummaging around in it.

Okay, if yous all are in need of the heat, nothing says “warm and fuzzy” better than the trucks getting ready to leave Fenway Park on their way to Fort Myers.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and there’s a lot of love to give. Hopefully, I can leach some of that love, usually reserved for couples.

The Hounds of Winter, They Follow Me Down

Wowie Zowie! as Frank Zappa used to say. According to the National Weather Service, us folks here in Kings County, NY received 18 inches of snow. It looked and felt more like 24", but I'll go with their totals.

Have a look at the scene L, D and I were part of in Prospect Park. Beautiful, if you ask me.

It appears that our buddies in Boston, also received about 18".

A quick look at the news stories on google.com is a bit "eyebrow raising." I beg to differ (for treats, that is!) that it wasn't paralyzing, or stranding or immobilizing as some reported about the Nor'Easter. It's plain hogwash. We were able, as were others, to get out and about with little to no problems. All stores will open as usual in our ‘hood. We just didn’t drive as to give up our sweet parking spot, for L to take the car to work tomorrow.

Anyway, I hope you all had as much fun in the snow as I did. See you tomorrow.

I’m freezin’, I’m freezin’, I’m cold

Dang, with all this cold weather, it'll be real nice to see the first signs of spring. And with that, the photo of Fenway Park brings some springtime anticipation. This photo was taken the day Nomar was traded in 2004, the same year the Red Sox went on to win the World Series without him.

In one of my earlier posts, I talked about a preview of a documentary for dogs on HBO. That documentary is called Dealing Dogs. This show is going to be scary and sad, but will highlight some of the sick underbelly that exists in the United States. Time and time again, HBO masterfully produces shows; fiction and non-fiction that are a lot better than a lot of the other bullshit out there. Have a lovely weekend all, we'll talk next week.

A year is really more like seven

Well not too much really going on. A little reversal, so much time, so little to say. Not really, just very busy today. Today was up at 8a, then to the park, socialization, then home for food, nap, playtime. Then it was time for L to get home. Then off to bed. Jeez, time goes by quick, in a dog's life.

I hope D&L take me here.

It'll be nice to get posted here, when it's up and running since I AM a Brooklyn Bulldog.

More tomorrow, hopefully...

You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed

There are just a few links in today's blog. Much to do with Bulldogs, actually, ALL OF THEM!

You know, L&D should hook me up with this diet.

Bothers & Sisters Unite! Thanks Martha!

I left out a pretty prominent user of the Bulldog for a mascot, the Georgetown Bulldogs.

How is this supposed to be mechanical me?

King of Bulldogs? I think I’m better looking!

One of the millions

There are many well-known bulldogs out there. Many sports teams and organizations use the bulldog as their mascot. US Marines, University of Georgia, Yale University, Gonzaga, etc.

Although the sentiment is there, this is a real waste as well as an embarrassment. $500 for that? You could put that cash towards a real one of me!

This one is even worse, for double the green!

These are a lot better, but that’s not really saying much.

When a bulldog costume costs more than a real bulldog, it’s pretty much a waste, I think.

You call me a dog, well that’s fair enough

Sort of a little bit late on this, but Happy Lunar New Year, everyone. In particular, I of course am quite pleased with the theme of this year's celebration: The Year of The Dog. I hope everyone had a very nice weekend. Rainy here in Brooklyn. L, D & I went to Ikea yesterday. They picked up some big heavy things and had to make me sit up front, on my mommy's lap, which I snored from NJ back to the greatest of the five boroughs.

We all watched the 2nd half of Super Bowl 40. The Steelers prevailed, 21-10. Sort of a ho-hum game. Looks like we can look forward to the WBC and Spring Training.

Another thing that will keep us going 'til then will be the Winter 2006 Olympics. I think that's all for now. Talk to you later.

Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads

Woo Hoo People! Just got back from a long, long, seemingly pointless car ride. Brooklyn to Binghamton and then back to Brooklyn. Basically, 8 hours in the car can really wear on you. The roads are ugly and boring. But it’s good that I don’t have to drive, pay for gas, tolls, etc. Actually, I’ve got it pretty easy, I get to sleep or play with a chew toy.

We went to “The Parlor City” to pick up L’s sister S's odds n’ ends for HER move to Brooklyn, I guess more people to play with and buy me and feed me treats is always a good thing.

D bought me some replacement food. He’s got me on this ‘stuff’ Royal Canin Bulldog-24 . And though I appreciate the sentiment of eating high quality dog food, that pretty much has all the good stuff I need, I loath eating this junk. I mean can’t this MoFo hook me up with the real deal? Salmon and rice is all I ask. That and those great peanut butter treats that you used to get for me from the Farmer’s Market in Troy, NY and gimme a belly rub while you’re at it, beotch!

A few administrative things... I'm likely going to keep a posting schedule to a Monday thru Friday-type thing. With some exceptions, you'll still be likely to hear from me, close to five days a week. And I'm going to try it out for now, on Fridays, I'll post a photo of something. It could be me, a potted plant, a trash heap, who knows? It's just all about potluck!. As my mom, L would say: "Have a super fun weekend!"

Groundhog Day

Really, have you ever wondered what the heck a Groundhog is? I don’t friggin’ have an idea. D has been taking me to Prospect Park. I tell you, that place kicks ass, but we got yelled at yesterday by some dude who works at one of the private buildings in the park. D was giving me a brushing (that feels sooooooo good!) and this guy came out of one of the buildings and said that I couldn’t be brushed out there, since my pet hair remnants are apparently so offensive. The nerve! I still love the park, but don’t like the man.

Open up my head & let me out little baby

So much to say and so little time. Well today, L will leave at about 8:30a and D has to go after that, so I’ll have the place to myself. As a dog, it’s pretty good to have some alone time. To be honest, there’s a lot going on that I have to take care of and I mostly do it in my sleep.

Something that happened to me in May 2005, a guy named Brian Oakes came up to D&L and I for an interview. I really hope his movie, God Spelled Backwards comes out. It’s deals with NYC’s fascination with their dogs. HBO has a similar documentary out, A Dog's Life. Another great, but scary dogumentary was Shelter Dogs. This was a pretty graphic documentary about Sue Sternberg and her staff, in dog shelter in upstate NY caring for and potentially placing dogs with prospective families. But there was the euthanasia aspect, that was pretty hard to watch. I saw an ad for something else like Shelter Dogs, but didn't catch the title. I'll see what that's about and report back.

So many stray brothers and sisters of mine are out there. Many have been abused. Many are great dogs. All dogs can be rehabilitated. I’ll post up some more dog-friendly sites and let you know what you can do out there to help. Thanks for listening.
