She left our world to hopefully a better place, aged just shy of 91 years. Without a doubt, she was one of the kindest, most caring individuals I or anyone has ever had the pleasure of knowing. If heaven exists, it's a far better place with her up there. I'll bet that much bingo, bowling, gossip and laughter are being enjoyed together with her friends & family upstairs in the sky. She will be missed and never forgotten. Hugs, kisses and love always, Sammy, D & L and everyone who loved you the most.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sammythebulldog.blogspot.com/2006/05/in-memoriam-cys-1915-2006.html' title='In Memoriam: C.Y.S. Sammy back here for my update on this, that & the other.

Over the last week or so, L, D and I spent some quality time at Prospect Park and then some fun was had at the Dog Run at Union Square. But some a-hole with his two damn bigger dogs than me; a rottweiler & an akita got the better of me. I was a bit underprepared, plus I'm not a fighting dog. In any event, I got bit, but am no worse for wear. Don't y'all going worrying. NYC is a great place, but can be bullshit occasionally. Turn the mo-fo page, I guess. I'm way too good looking to take a hit with my looks. So I gots to look ahead. See you next time.

Woof! Woof! Not to alarm anyone, things are well, but I'm on some meds. Even allergy season spares not even us canines. But I've got some bumps on the face, and some near my can. Nothing to alarmed about, just seasonal bullshit. My good friends at Richmond Valley Animal Hospital in Staten Island took care of business. And I'm no worse for wear. Happy still as can be, yo!

Here's a photo of me in my mommy's arms. The similarities are uncanny; constantly barking, kind of weird looking with that freaky curly hair, a bit ugly, if you ask me.

As the month of April comes to a close, we all are looking forward to the great mid-spring good weather. Sammy's back here in the game. Feeling good now that we've got some great springtime weather here in the N'east. Heard from my buddy Niall in the Bay Area that they're getting pummeled with rain. Damn shame. From what I hear, that's a great place to live & visit. My dad, D used to live out there and he's taken my mom, L out there a coupla times. I hope to go on the next trip.

With the good weather brings some good baseball. And the Red Sox haven't disappointed. In regards to last night's game, I was pretty hard on our old closer, but then realized that it was Rockstar #2's replacement's fault.

Just a note (or warning) to the folks who are looking for dog-related info. I'll definitely post some items from time to time, but while baseball season is here and the Sox are doing well, then my priorities are with them. See you all later!

Woof! Sounds pretty good to me. I'd love some pineapple and macadamia nut-infused dog food for a change. There's plenty of green over there too!

Things have been well, albeit busy, but I'm getting by. I hope all's well out there with yous folks. On to a couple of good links! L, D & I all headed up to Woodbury Commons for some outlet shopping. Man, let me tell you, I was MF POPULAR up there. People from all walks of life were into me like the paparazzi over some Hollywood celeb! I love the attention!

On Friday night, we went to this great bar, Moonshine. We hung out, spent some coins on the Jukebox (Classics like Kiss, Cheap Trick, The Boss, etc.) Nick, the owner invited us to the 3rd Sunday Annual Bulldog get-together, which they sponsor at the bar. So we did that after the outlets.

That's pretty much the review of the weekend. Hopefully I'll have some more tomorrow.

Woof! Woof! And with that, the photo of Fenway Park brings some springtime anticipation. This photo was taken the day Nomar was traded in 2004, the same year the Red Sox went on to win the World Series without him.

In one of my earlier posts, I talked about a preview of a documentary for dogs on HBO. That documentary is called Dealing Dogs. This show is going to be scary and sad, but will highlight some of the sick underbelly that exists in the United States. Time and time again, HBO masterfully produces shows; fiction and non-fiction that are a lot better than a lot of the other bullshit out there. Have a lovely weekend all, we'll talk next week.

Woof! Woof! In particular, I of course am quite pleased with the theme of this year's celebration: The Year of The Dog. I hope everyone had a very nice weekend. Rainy here in Brooklyn. L, D & I went to Ikea yesterday. They picked up some big heavy things and had to make me sit up front, on my mommy's lap, which I snored from NJ back to the greatest of the five boroughs.

We all watched the 2nd half of Super Bowl 40. The Steelers prevailed, 21-10. Sort of a ho-hum game. Just got back from a long, long, seemingly pointless car ride. Brooklyn to Binghamton and then back to Brooklyn. Basically, 8 hours in the car can really wear on you. The roads are ugly and boring. But it’s good that I don’t have to drive, pay for gas, tolls, etc. Actually, I’ve got it pretty easy, I get to sleep or play with a chew toy.

We went to “The Parlor City” to pick up L’s sister S's odds n’ ends for HER move to Brooklyn, I guess more people to play with and buy me and feed me treats is always a good thing.

D bought me some replacement food. He’s got me on this ‘stuff’ Royal Canin Bulldog-24 . And though I appreciate the sentiment of eating high quality dog food, that pretty much has all the good stuff I need, I loath eating this junk. I mean can’t this MoFo hook me up with the real deal? Salmon and rice is all I ask. That and those great peanut butter treats that you used to get for me from the Farmer’s Market in Troy, NY and gimme a belly rub while you’re at it, beotch!

A few administrative things... I'm likely going to keep a posting schedule to a Monday thru Friday-type thing. With some exceptions, you'll still be likely to hear from me, close to five days a week. And I'm going to try it out for now, on Fridays, I'll post a photo of something. It could be me, a potted plant, a trash heap, who knows? It's just all about potluck!. As my mom, L would say: "Have a super fun weekend!"

Woof! Woof! I don’t friggin’ have an idea. D has been taking me to Prospect Park. I tell you, that place kicks ass, but we got yelled at yesterday by some dude who works at one of the private buildings in the park. D was giving me a brushing (that feels sooooooo good!) and this guy came out of one of the buildings and said that I couldn’t be brushed out there, since my pet hair remnants are apparently so offensive. The nerve! I still love the park, but don’t like the man.

Woof! Woof! Well today, L will leave at about 8:30a and D has to go after that, so I’ll have the place to myself. As a dog, it’s pretty good to have some alone time. To be honest, there’s a lot going on that I have to take care of and I mostly do it in my sleep.

Something that happened to me in May 2005, a guy named Brian Oakes came up to D&L and I for an interview. I really hope his movie, God Spelled Backwards comes out. It’s deals with NYC’s fascination with their dogs. HBO has a similar documentary out, A Dog's Life. Another great, but scary dogumentary was Shelter Dogs. This was a pretty graphic documentary about Sue Sternberg and her staff, in dog shelter in upstate NY caring for and potentially placing dogs with prospective families. But there was the euthanasia aspect, that was pretty hard to watch. I saw an ad for something else like Shelter Dogs, but didn't catch the title. I'll see what that's about and report back.

So many stray brothers and sisters of mine are out there. Many have been abused. Many are great dogs. All dogs can be rehabilitated. I’ll post up some more dog-friendly sites and let you know what you can do out there to help. Thanks for listening.

Woof! Woof! I was born in Houston, Texas on January 10, 2005 and was flown up to JFK where my parents, L&D brought me to live in my new home in Brooklyn, NY. This Blog will be an occasional record of the world through my eyes. I'll likely discuss my opinions, observations and comments. I hope you enjoy my perspective on things and that you will visit my site often! This will hopefully be a daily blog, depending on time.
